The Farewell Bike Ride

Olmo ViewThe views along this section were fantastic. This is a view looking west from Olmo Road. The air was clean, the sky was clear and the views were abundant.
Olmo rest stop There were some very steep sections of loose shale as we descended Olmo Road. Once it leveled out, we stopped to enjoy the view.
All Wheels RollingThen the trail narrowed as it proceeded down through the trees and bushes. Get that butt back as you prepare for the descent.
DescentEntering Butano State park from here was down a very steep section of road. It was a fast section with lots of brake grabbing.
LunchButano State Park being approximately the half way point of the ride, is where we took a lunch break. While there, it was heard Rick Burrows had an incident in the outhouse. You'll have to get the details from him personally.
Tired ridersThe ride back up Gazos Creek Road was a tortuous climb as you can see from these tired faces. We were glad to stop for the many horses that were seen traveling down this road. Apparently there were about 75 horses participating in an all day 100 mile ride in the same area we were riding.
Whitehouse CanyonThis is the final lookout before the last leg of the journey. Eight more miles to the parking area.
